Conference
An event used by any organization to meet and exchange views, convey a message, open a debate or give publicity to some area of opinion on a specific issue. No tradition, continuity or periodicity is required to convene a conference. Although not generally limited in time, conferences are usually of short duration with specific objectives. Conferences are generally on a smaller scale than congresses.

Congress
1) The regular coming together of large groups of individuals, generally to discuss a particular subject. A congress will often last several days and have several simultaneous sessions. The length of time between congresses is usually established in advance of the implementation stage, and can be either pluri-annual or annual. Most international or world congresses are of the former type while national congresses are more frequently held annually. 2) Meeting of an association of delegates or representatives from constituent organizations. 3) European term for convention.

Exhibition that is open to the public, and for which an admission charge is levied.

Convention
An event where the primary activity of the attendees is to attend educational sessions, participate in meetings/discussions, socialize, or attend other organized events. There may be a secondary exhibit component. Conventions are not opened to the general public and a registration fee for participants is usually imposed.

Corporate Meetings
Gathering of employees or representatives of a commercial organization. Usually, attendance is required and travel, room and most meal expenses are paid for by the organization.

Festivals & Community Event
Festivals, of many types, serve to meet specific needs, as well as to provide entertainment. These times of celebration offer a sense of belonging for religious, social, or geographical groups. Though many have religious origins, others involve seasonal change or have some cultural significance. Also certain institutions celebrate their own festival (often called "fests") to mark some significant occasions in their history. These occasions could be the day these institutions were founded or any other event which they decide to commemorate periodically, usually annually.

Galas & Fundraisers
Primary social function of the event, usually in the evening, including entertainment or speeches after a formal meal. Events within this group include large-scale charitable fundraisers. These events occur on an annual basis and incorporate sophisticated décor and high production values.

Meetings
An assembly of people for a wide variety of purposes; business, social, political, religious, fraternal or educational. Based upon the nature of the event, a registration fee or some other restriction may be imposed to control access to these functions.

Trade Show
An exhibition of products and/or services held for members of a common or related industry. A trade show may be enhanced by technical/educational sessions that are relative to the particular trade. Trade Shows are not open to the general public.

Other Events
Events within this grouping include activities such as, but not limited to, socials, proms, graduations, dances, musical and theatrical productions, and various civic events. Admission to these events is limited by the size of the space rented, anticipated attendance, or by an admission charge levied on the participants.

Our 192-acre urban parkland site is the preferred destination for location and production managers who use our buildings, parklands and roadways for the filming of feature films, television series, and movie’s of the week, commercials, and still photography.
