Exhibtion Place Board of Governors appoints new Chair - Councillor Mark Grimes

On Thursday January 6, 2011, Exhibition Place Board of Governors held their first Board meeting of the year and unanimously appointed Councillor Mark Grimes as the new Chair of the Board. The meeting took place on the grounds of Exhibition Place at the Queen Elizabeth Building.

For Immediate Release…Toronto, ON, January 7, 2011 –On Thursday January 6, 2011, Exhibition Place Board of Governors held their first Board meeting of the year and unanimously appointed Councillor Mark Grimes as the new Chair of the Board. The meeting took place on the grounds of Exhibition Place at the Queen Elizabeth Building. 

Councillor Mark Grimes was first elected City Councillor for Ward 6 on November 10, 2003 and re-elected on October 25, 2010.  Councillor Grimes is a strong advocate for the Etobicoke-Lakeshore community and prior to entering politics was a local business owner.  This experience made him aware of the pressing economic issues for local businesses and provides him with a strong background to begin leading Exhibition Place.

Joining Councillor Grimes as the new Vice-Chair of the Board is Mr. Jim McMillen, the honorary President of the Canadian National Exhibition Association (CNEA) and has been a member of the Board of Governors of Exhibition Place since 2006.  Previously Mr. McMillen was a Regional Councillor for Scugog Township.
