Arenas, Airports & the Apocalypse: Doors Open presented by Great Gulf 2018 at Exhibition Place

May 2 2018
This brand-new tour of Exhibition Place for Doors Open 2018 will take you on a walk through the grounds of one of Toronto's largest and most versatile filming locations.

Affectionately named “Hollywood North”, Toronto is home to movie and television productions companies that contribute every year to the city’s growing billion dollar industry. With carefully planned shots and a little help from some digital editing, Toronto often doubles for international cities such as New York City, Chicago, London, Paris and several other international locations, and Exhibition Place is home to many of these.

From olden times to the future and other worldly locations, Exhibition Place’s size and architecture serve it well as many buildings and locations on the grounds can be transformed into places you wouldn’t believe … until you see them.

The Enercare Centre galleria becomes an airport, the Ricoh Coliseum – a boxing ring, Beanfield Centre – an ominous headquarters where nefarious events take place, the grounds – a race car track, and the Halls – anything you could imagine.

*Suits, The Handmaid’s Tale, Titans, The Strain, Downsizing, Resident Evil: Apocalypse, Drive and Ice Princess are just some of the television shows and movies that do, or at one time, film here.

Come see the star that is Exhibition Place truly. Join us on May 26 and 27 at 10am, 1pm or 3pm for “Arenas, Airports & the Apocalypse”, part of Doors Open Toronto presented by Great Gulf and learn about the cinematic history of the grounds and see where your favourite TV shows and movies were shot.
