Janes Walk 2017
Ghost Walk - Exhibition Place
May 6 starting at 7 pm
Starting Point: General Services Building, 2 Manitoba Drive (north of the Prince’s Gates)
This 2 hour tour takes you behind locked doors at Exhibition Place to introduce you to known ghostly hot-spots.
Exhibition Place is known for its bright lights and entertaining shows and events, but lurking below the surface are many well-kept secrets that, until this walking tour, were primarily known only to staff who work the late shift. That the grounds should harbour otherworldly visitors is not much of a surprise: the Horticulture Building was once used as a temporary morgue; the current site of the midway was a bloody battlefield during the War of 1812; and the grounds were once home to two military forts. Not to mention the CNE’s own long history, going back to 1879 – plenty of time and plenty of reasons for an accumulation of “things that go bump in the night.”
Many of the spirits included in the tour were also featured in the book The Ghosts of the CNE by paranormal researcher, Richard Palmisano (Dundurn Press, 2011).
Take the 511 or 509 streetcars and get off at the Strachan Avenue stop. The General Services Building is just to the north of the stop.
Free parking for tour participants at the General Services Building.
Walk leader: Steve Collie. Steve has conducted tours for Heritage Toronto Tours since 1994 and also gives ghost /paranormal tours at Exhibition Park, Brampton and Barrie.
Some curbs, uneven ground and low lighting.
