Following a 17-week lockout, and a marathon bargaining session from November 10 – 14, 2018, The Board of Governors of Exhibition Place and IATSE Local 58 were successful in negotiating and ratifying a Renewal Collective Agreement.
The newly modernized collective agreement will position Exhibition Place to be competitive within the meetings & conventions, exhibitions, events and professional sports lines of business; while keeping members of IATSE Local 58 employed to perform the majority of meaningful work associated with shows and events that take place on the Exhibition Place grounds. The new collective agreement addresses key issues including job shadowing, double time, minimum calls, and will include a new mutual commitment to a Health & Safety and Customer Service Worker Training curriculum. The term is effective until December 31, 2021.
“The bargaining team achieved their mandate to modernize the Collective Agreement to meet the needs of our clients, tenants and stakeholders. Exhibition Place is open for business. We look forward to the opportunity to secure new business for Exhibition Place and our workers based on the improved working rules of this Collective Agreement”, said Mark Grimes, Chair of the Board of Governors of Exhibition Place.
Exhibition Place and IATSE Local 58 are working to transition the stagehands back to work.
