ShopHERE

The City of Toronto is set to announce a new program, ShopHERE, aimed at helping Toronto’s independent businesses build and optimize online stores at no cost.  Launched in conjunction with Digital Main Street, a program of the Toronto Association of Business Improvement Areas, the initiative will also receive support from Toronto’s technology community.

ShopHERE’s goal is to help local independent small businesses and artists that currently do not have the resources to build an online store. Web developers from several Toronto tech companies will build and launch 3,000 online stores through the program over the next three months. Click here for details.

ExPlace tenants and clients step up during COVID-19 crisis

We are pleased to report on a fabulous community initiative by one of our Exhibition Place tenants; three of the designers at Toronto Fashion Incubator (TFI) have switched their focus from fashion design to PPE design and production during the COVID crisis.

Designer Spencer Badu (SP Badu) is making masks and for every mask sold, one is donated to Humber River Hospital.  Designers Mana Mojaver and Rushmita Alam from E3 koncept are selling masks at cost for nonprofit.  Designer Sid Neigum is developing medical-grade gowns, working with scientists who are testing his products to ensure that they meet medical standards.

We applaud them all for their inspired service to the community!  If you have any questions or would like more information you can reach out to tfi@fashionincubator.com.
