What can I expect to do in this role?
Reporting to the Director, Sales & Marketing, the Account Executive will develop and implement sales strategies and tactics for the Canadian, U.S., and international markets, to book exhibitions, conferences, and events within an assigned industry sector or parameter, as directed by the leader.
- Direct solicitation to potential clients to obtain booking and rental of exhibit halls, conference centre, meeting rooms, and outdoor spaces etc., focusing on in the year for the year business and renewals that acts as fillers for need periods outside of the large conferences and exhibitions.
- Negotiate, create proposals, and quote rental rates and services with prospective clients within Booking Guidelines.
- Meet and exceed sales goals.
- Negotiate license agreements for new and repeat accounts.
- Liaise with internal staff during client negotiation and proposal stages.
- Track and maintain client data base using Momentus applications for reporting and auditing purposes.
- Conduct site tours of buildings and requested space for prospective clients.
- Attend industry tradeshows, conferences and sales missions and participate within the meetings industry associations, to build personal profile as an events industry expert and enhance Exhibition Place brand.
- Monitor market conditions and report and share with team members on trends, issues, or other conditions that may require modifications in sales activities and strategies.
- Special projects as assigned.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
How do I qualify?
- Post-secondary education in sales or discipline pertinent to the job function.
- Two years of progressive sales experience within a convention centre, the consumer trade show industry or similar experience.
- Experience using Momentus or similar CRM applications.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and written.
- Good organizational skills including the ability to prioritize and meet strict deadlines.
- Knowledge of web-based applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, Zoom etc.).
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
- Business travel and/or client events is occasionally required outside of regular business hours
