Cherry Blossoms Set to Bloom at Exhibition Place
Exhibition Place is Toronto’s Hidden Gem for Cherry Blossom Viewing
Each spring, Toronto comes to life with the arrival of cherry blossom season, and Exhibition Place offers the perfect setting to experience this short-lived natural phenomenon.
The cherry blossoms at Exhibition Place can be found throughout the west side of the grounds, with the best spots for viewing at:
- The Princess Margaret Fountain
- The Queen Elizabeth Building
- Bandshell Park (along the walkway south of the Toronto Event Centre)
- Liberty Grand
With wide walkways, open spaces, and a lakeside setting, Exhibition Place offers a less crowded alternative to High Park.
When to Visit
Cherry blossoms, or Sakura, bloom for a limited time each year, typically reaching their peak in Toronto between late April and early May. The exact timing varies depending on weather conditions. At Exhibition Place, buds have already begun to appear, and the trees are expected to reach full bloom in the coming weeks.
Once in bloom, the flowers generally remain for approximately 7 to 10 days. However, adverse weather conditions such as wind or rain can shorten this period, making it important for visitors to monitor conditions closely and plan their visit accordingly.

Free Cherry Blossom Photo Walks
To mark the occasion, Exhibition Place will be hosting a series of free guided Cherry Blossom Photo Walks from April 26 to May 1. Led by Phil Sutherland and his team from West Toronto Photography Group, the sessions are designed to support photographers of all skill levels in capturing the blossoms at their peak.
Each walk will last approximately one hour and will begin at Bandshell Park. Participants will receive guidance on techniques including framing, lighting, and visual storytelling.
In addition to the general sessions, special sunset walks will also be offered for intermediate photographers using SLR or DSLR cameras. These sessions will focus on flash photography.
